For the propaganda project, I made two posters. Between the fictional Puppets and Basil Boulevard, the two groups which we have decided to use as parodies of certain shows, both of my propaganda posters support the Puppets. One of them is directly in support of the Puppets, while the other is fear mongering against Basil Boulevard.
The first poster is based on Chinese Communist Party propaganda, which often depicts Mao Zedong as an almost godlike figure over the Chinese people, and utilizes imagery associated with the sun. I thought that rather than the sun, it would be more fitting to depict one of the Puppets as associated with a rainbow, suggesting some sort of rainbow connection to divinity. I think this style of propaganda can be effective because it creates a positive association with an individual and shows them as popular.
The second poster is intended to demonize Basil Boulevard, showing a strange hand stealing a cookie from the cookie jar, and calling them monstrous. It is also based on communist propaganda, which is shown at the bottom of this post. This style of propaganda can be effective because it dehumanizes a group which the creators of the propaganda want to be seen as enemies.
